Wild Ink: A Journey Beyond the Wall

Wild Ink: A Journey Beyond the Wall

There’s something about the way nature moves – the delicate swaying of grasses, the raw power of sea waves, the quiet resilience of a forest after rain. It’s not something we often pause to notice, let alone try to capture. But Estonian designer Triinu Silla has done just that with her new wallpaper series, the Wild Ink collection. It’s a body of work that bridges the distance between the outdoors and our interior spaces, inviting nature into our lives in the most unexpected ways.

Inspiration from a journey

Triinu’s inspiration came during a summer trip to Northern Finland and Norway. Days spent outdoors – green forest, watching fjords dissolve into mist, and tracing the edges of rock-strewn paths left her with a question: How do you distill these moments? Back in her studio, she found the answer through the movement of ink.

The result is Wild Ink, a collection of 20 mural wallpapers that feel as much like a mood as it does a design. Each wallpaper design piece is strikingly modern yet grounded, offering something more than just decoration a – sense of place, a pause.

A collection that is both practical as it is beautiful

But it’s not all poetic abstraction. The Wild Ink wallcoverings collection is as practical as it is beautiful. Each design is printed digitally, on demand basis, on premium non-woven material to reduce waste. Panels arrive pre-cut and numbered, simplifying installation and ensuring that even the boldest designs fit seamlessly into your space. Whether it’s a single feature wall or an entire room, the wallpaper feels tailored to you and to your walls.

For those looking to incorporate these designs, Anna-Kai Tors from Baubauwall recommends considering how the space will be used. “Wild Ink can completely change the feeling of a space,” she says. “The wallpapers of the new collection are particularly suited for commercial interiors that thrive on bold design, as hotel bedrooms, quirky boutiques, or offices. Alternatively, use these murals for a home wall that isn´ t afraid of making a statement.”

Her favorite way to use the collection? Pairing it with natural materials – linen curtains, raw wood furniture, ceramic accents. “It’s about balance. You don’t need a lot of other elements when the walls are doing this much work,” she adds.

There’s an intimacy to Wild Ink that comes from its origin. It’s not just wallpaper; it’s a reflection of moments the author experienced, moments she’s offering to share. With each brushstroke, you feel the weight of those quiet northern landscapes – and the wonder of bringing them home.
